Dermatitis

Dermatitis is an inflammation of the epidermis caused by the presence of irritant substances. These substances penetrate and alter the cells of the epidermis as they are toxic substances for keratinocytes. As a response, there is an inflammation of the epidermis.

The factors that contribute to the appearance of the dermatitis are very similar to those that origin acne, such as psychic or mental disorders, poor diet, allergic problems...).

There are several types of dermatitis:

• Irritative dermatitis: it is caused by prolonged contact with or high concentration of certain substances in contact with the skin.

• Allergic dermatitis: this is a very deferred response to contact with a sensitivising substance. This is because the substance is recognized as foreign by lymphocytes in the connective tissue. This causes a sensitivisation and it is only at a later contact that there is an allergic reaction of contact dermatitis.
